Choosing Coffee Beans
When it comes to choosing the coffee beans you want to use in your french press coffee maker, it really comes down to your own personal preferences and needs. Any grocery store or coffee shop will carry beans for you to purchase and most will even grind the beans for you there if you ask. If you don’t have a grinder at home, this option will work. If you do have a grinder though, grab the whole bean coffees so you can have fresh ground coffee all the time.
Here is a rundown of the differences between each of the main types of coffee beans for your french press coffee maker, as well as a suggestion for each one:
Regular
Kona Coffee
Regular coffee beans (with caffeine) flavors can range wildly and depend on both the soil and climate their grown in as well as how they are roasted and prepared for brewing. Kona Coffee is a Hawaiian bean that is known for its robust flavor and taste and is highly regarded.
Decaf
Buffalo & Spring Colombian Decaf
Decaf coffee is simply regular coffee beans that are treated to remove the caffeine that surrounds the beans. These beans use the Swiss Water Process Method to wash away the caffeine and therefore are not treated with any harsh chemicals.
Organic
Café Altura Organic Coffee
Organic coffees are not treated with any chemicals or fertilizers while being grown or processed and are very “natural” because of that. Great for the purists.
Flavored
White Russian
You can pretty much find any kind of flavor in coffee you want. Here’s a white russian for instance. Be careful with flavored coffees in your french press coffee maker as they will often leave their flavors behind. Scrub well.
